About the Author
Carol E. Massey comes to writing after a successful 30+ career in the leadership of academic, governmental, and community-based nonprofit organizations, serving as board member, chief administrative officer, program manager, and management consultant/technical assistance provider. Before retiring in 2014, Ms. Massey served for five years as Chief Administrative Officer, Department of Emergency Medicine, University of California San Francisco, where she managed an academic medicine department serving over 100,000 patient visits at two hospital emergency departments. Ms. Massey earned an MBA, Health Services, from Howard University, Washington, DC and a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a fifty-year member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and an active member of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church and other civic organizations.Ms. Massey has one son, who is a Student Affairs executive at a major university.
